About Japanese I:
The emphasis of Japanese I is on the ability to communicate orally, emphasizing vocabulary development and basic language functions. Two kana syllabaries, hiragana and katakana, along with some basic Chinese characters (kanji), are taught in this course. Students will use language to exchange information about topics relating to themselves, their families and their leisure activities. A general introduction to Japanese culture is also integrated throughout this course. By the end of this course, students should have between a Novice-Low to Novice-Mid capability in Japanese. |
